Why we exist

Every generational product has been built on the shoulders of robust developer tooling and infrastructure. Over the past decade, this has become more evident than ever, with the continued shift to the cloud, the rise of data tools bolstering analytics and observability, and the democratization of resources making software engineering accessible to more people than ever before.

However, there is still a lot of noise to sift through. Themes we’ve heard from founders:

  • We need more technical investors who have experienced the realities of building and evaluating software

  • Current engineers and leaders can offer the most timely insights and feedback given their proximity to the codebase and systems

  • Understanding the mindset of senior leadership buyers is critical, as they control most of the budget in today’s environment

  • Nothing beats having technical advocates, potential users, and future customers supporting your journey

How we can help

  • We invest in a small number of companies each year. We are extremely selective and aim to only invest in a few exceptional companies to provide our undivided support.

  • Product and Strategy: We provide insights and feedback on product strategy, pricing, and competitive landscape. We can run mock “build-vs-buy” analyses where you see how we’d go through the process of evaluating your software within our larger org. This offers valuable insights on product positioning, packaging, and feature roadmap.

  • Community: We are engaged and connected in the community, and can help with relevant intros to technical operators at the majority of growth stage or public companies.

  • Technical advising: Our expertise spans product engineering, mobile and web, infrastructure, database/storage, data engineering, observability, AI/ML, and growth engineering. If you are interested in connecting with a specialist in a given technology, we can almost always introduce a vetted expert in our network.

  • Hiring and Recruiting: We’re all hiring managers ourselves! We’ll help you with building a pipeline, refining your pitch, and even interviewing and closing candidates.

  • Go-to-market and growth strategy - We have experts (e.g. Heads of Growth at Figma and Airtable) well-versed in different growth strategies for new user acquisition, user onboarding, pricing and packaging, and self-serve/enterprise growth.
